HISTORY

SkyShop Logistics, Inc founded by AJ & Albert Hernandez, traces its roots to NYC in 1965 when Albert was a messenger. He helped built Choice Logistics into a leading air courier and mail delivery service in Latin America. After 19 years of working his way up, he purchased the international courier and mail division of Choice and merged it with Sky Courier Network, a pioneer in the same day US domestic courier and international mail express sector.

In 1988 Sky Courier Network was sold to Airborne Express and Albert started SkyNet Worldwide Express focusing on delivery of mail and parcels in Latin America. In 1992, before the internet, Albert’s son AJ started SkyBox Services, the first US shopping facilitator, by providing a US Address for internationals wishing to make purchases from US Catalog merchants who did not want to take the risks of selling internationally. SkyBox distributed the catalogs and handled the shipments received for the international shoppers. In 1993 it began a marketing partnership with American Express and grew to become the largest shopping facilitator in Latin America. In 2001, SkyNet and SkyBox was merged with LanLogistics, a division of Lan Chile Airlines, the largest cargo and passenger airline in Latin America.

In 2001, capitalizing on the mandated postal deregulation of the European National Postal Services by the EU, SkyPostal was started. By linking the best private postal services in Latin America with its proprietary PosTrac mail tracking system, SkyPostal grew to become the largest private postal Network in Latin America. It delivers over 60 million mail items each month consisting of first class mail, catalogs, books, mail order parcels and publications. The Hernandez’ purchased SkyPostal from Lan in 2004 and once their non compete expired they reentered the shopping facilitator business in 2008 and created the PuntoMio brand. Building on the Hernandez’ experience in the international parcel delivery & shopping facilitation service, SkyShop Logistics has become a leader in cross border e-commerce shopping solutions in Europe, Middle East and Latin America by providing international consumers and US merchants with the ability to transact business in a low cost, efficient and integrated system. Management is focused on delivering the highest level of quality service and attention to its customers and US merchants.

In August of 2013 the SkyPostal mail unit was sold to a private equity fund, Little Banc Advisors and will remain as a service partner for SkyShop Logistics, sharing our aim to become the top International Shopping Facilitator in the world.
